Chapter 1384: An old mother

Shen Li looked down at his two sons and pursed his lips, he hoped that the two would stay calm once Yu Dong left but he was very much aware of their antics.

Yu Dong was of course not aware of the thoughts of her husbands, because her sons would always pay attention to Shen Li when she was in the room with them. She thought that the mers were scared to stay alone as Yu Tong was now on a business trip, Yu Dong had asked Yu Tong to go and look for a few women who were willing to work for them.

Though Little Zi Zan was good with her hands, she couldn’t take care of the bakery alone. This was why Yu Dong wanted to hire some women who were adept at making desserts. She sent Yu Tong to look around for such skilled dessert makers, not to mention Yu Dong asked Yu Tong to make sure that these women needed to be honest and hard-working.

Thus, Yu Tong was gone and the only women in the house were the mammies and Teacher Su who had changed her name along with her sons to hide her identity.

"I will be back by evening, don’t worry," Yu Dong affirmed. She turned to look at Chen Mi and Fang Chi before saying, "You two stay inside the house with the kids, no matter what do not step out of the house. I don’t want you two getting lost again."

Now the village was different than before, there were many fields and greenhouses scattered all over the land of the village. Chen Mi and Fang Chi both had a very bad sense of direction which caused them to be lost a few times, if not for the fact that they stayed in the village and other villagers saw them. They would have really ended up getting lost in the village for more than three hours.

Chen Mi and Fang Chi’s face turned red. They were under a bit bad with all the twists and turns that suddenly popped into the village, it was not their fault, the new residents and the lands allocated to them were nothing but grounds ages ago but now there were tall and haughty buildings.

With so many houses and alleys suddenly appearing, it was not their fault that they ended up getting lost.

"It was just a one-time thing," Chen Mi said to Yu Dong with flushed cheeks.

As she spoke Mammy Lin who was sitting in front of the carriage, shook her head. Yu Dong was worrying as if she was leaving for months and not hours!

She raised her hand and then whipped the horse in front of her. The leather whip hit the hind leg of the horse and the carriage lurched forward, before driving away.

While Yu Dong was speaking neither Dou Dou nor Feng Feng looked at her, one was crying while being hugged by his daddy while the other one was clapping his hands while watching the butterfly floating in the garden.

Bo Bo on the other hand was indifferent as usual as he stared at the horizon with a blank gaze. Only Yu Jin had the heart to wave his hand at his mother whose heart was aching.

Yu Dong waved her hand back before sliding inside the carriage, she wiped the tear sticking to the corner of her eyes and remarked, "It’s so hard to be an old mother, my kids do not even care about me."
