House of the Week: Tired of commuting to work? Mix things.

option. This semi-detached apartment building offers plenty of options for your commute. The Minuteman bike path is less than 500 feet away, the Alewife station on the Red Line is just over half a mile away, and Route 2 is a minute or two from Lake Street.
Both buildings have undergone extensive renovations this year. In the foyer of the space shown here, the tiled floor has been replaced with a polished white oak floor. A wardrobe for outerwear is waiting for you for the winter.
The foyer leads into the living room, which is much more spacious than expected. It is 25 feet long (300 square feet in total) and flooded with natural light from large windows. (FYI: There are 10 of them double suspended.) Part of the room’s coffered ceiling has recessed lighting, and the stair pattern adds depth to the room. A gas fireplace covered in large-format gray tiles adds warmth to the space.
Through the opening in the living room, you can see the dining room, kitchen and rear deck through the glass doors.
The chandelier does not define the dining area, but seems to be the perfect place for a table flooded with light from three windows: two double windows and a transom.
Glass doors to the driveway are located between the dining area and the kitchen for quick food storage. The kitchen is galley-style with a three-person peninsula and quartz countertops with a waterfall edge. The space also features gray shaker-style cabinets, tubular pendant lights, recessed lighting, stainless steel appliances including a gas stove, and a marble-grain quartz backsplash.
There are two bedrooms on this floor, flanked by a full bathroom, decorated in a modern style, with a wall-mounted sink finished in white quartz and cupboards covered in espresso-colored veneer. Gray tiled floors, multiple jet showers, pebbled marble mosaic floors, polished porcelain walls and frameless glass doors.
The bedroom to the left of the bathroom is 138 square feet and has two windows, a couple of closets and a modest overhead light. The other bedroom is almost a mirror image, but smaller at 112 square feet. It has no ceiling lights and has a wardrobe with a double door.
The other bedrooms and bathroom are located on the lower level, which can be accessed by stairs from the kitchen. At the foot of the stairs there is a room that can be called any room. It is a 253 square foot rectangle with no support beams to indicate where furniture can and cannot be placed. There is a basement window and built-in lighting.
A short hallway from this room connects to a one bedroom suite with a bedroom and bathroom. Single bedroom 100 sq. feet with full-length windows, built-in lighting and a walk-in closet with double sliding doors.
Suite features a 132-square-foot bedroom, full-wall windows, two wardrobes with sliding doors, built-in lighting, and an attached bathroom with a floating double espresso sink with white porcelain countertops, gray tile bathtub flooring, and marble showers with tiled floors from pebbles. polished porcelain walls and glass sliding doors.
The last stop on this corridor, the third bathroom, is also used as a laundry room. The bathroom has a bathtub and shower with splash-proof glass panels and polished tiled walls; gray tiled floors; boxes with handles.
The block includes a garage space, a second tandem parking space in the yard and a separate fenced yard.
